WE ARE FULLY BOOKED FOR 2024-25. WE ARE NOW TAKING ENQUIRIES FOR OUR 2025-26 COURSES.
Course Structure
Our course is split into five stages (to coincide with the school term dates), with each stage designed to build upon material learnt in the previous stage. This developmental process allows children to build confidence and demonstrate progress as they prepare for the 11+.
STAGE 1 – OCTOBER TO DECEMBER
Introduction and basic concepts. During this stage we introduce the material, content, concepts and ideas
that are used in the 11+ test. Children will be introduced to the different question types, and will begin to
understand the requirements of the test.
STAGE 2 – JANUARY TO FEBRUARY
Developing ideas and concepts. In stage 2 children build upon the ideas and concepts introduced in the
previous phase. Children develop a deeper understanding of how to answer each question type, and how best
to approach each section of the test.
STAGE 3 – MARCH TO APRIL
Knowledge development. Stage 3 is where we stretch and challenge children further, based on their
individual needs. More challenging material is introduced, as well as time limited activities, which mimic the
11+ test itself.
STAGE 4 – APRIL TO MAY
Consolidating knowledge and understanding. In this stage we hone in on developing children’s ability to
answer different question types. Children become familiar with transferring answers to an answer sheet
(as they will need to do for the exam) and become confident at working under time limits.
STAGE 5 – JUNE TO JULY
Exam preparation and practice. This stage is dedicated to exam preparation. We investigate exam
techniques, time management and coping strategies. Lots of time is spent working under exam conditions in
order to familiarise children with the demands of the test.
SUMMER BOOSTER – AUGUST
Exam preparation and practice. During the summer booster we recap content learnt throughout the course, focus on pupils specific areas of need, and concentrate on exam preparation.
Mock Examinations and Pupil Feedback
At the end of each stage your child will sit a mock examination. After this mock you will receive a pupil progress report, which includes a comprehensive break down of your child's strengths and areas for development from that stage. This information is used to guide teaching in subsequent phases; allowing us to focus on your child's individual needs. On completion of all five stages, and the summer booster, your child will have acquired all of the necessary skills to take the 11+ exam with confidence.
